BLOWW HOLE

What happens when you combine the queer art of @holeshow69, the larger than life charisma of @bloww_boston, and the multi city, grassroots success of house party @wrestle.yr.friends? You have a Queer New Years Eve Wrestling Themed Celebration that is ABSOLUTELY not to be missed!! This party is unprecedented in Boston, so it makes sense you crave more information. Let us paint you a picture…

HOW IT WORKS:

Buy tickets ahead of time to save money and assure entry, limited tickets will also be made available at the door. It’s a wrestling themed party, so even if you are not wrestling, creative wrestling themed attire is encouraged! Each guest will be required to sign a liability waiver upon entry, and will be given an optional character worksheet, to get your creative juices flowing.

BLOWW members will be available to help you sign up to wrestle throughout the evening (like karaoke), though it is best to sign up early to ensure a performance slot. You may choose to wrestle someone you know, but if you would like to sign up by yourself, we will help match you to an opponent. When you sign up, you will be asked your name, the style of wrestling you would like to do, and if there is a reason you are fighting tonight. The different types of wrestling include arm wrestling, sock wrestling, thumb wrestling, leg wrestling, staring contest…you get the idea.

People of ALL experience levels, body type, and ability are encouraged to wrestle. You will be wrestling on gym mats, and not a wrestling ring, so no pageantry or pro-wrestling experience is required. Your knees must stay on the ground during your entire match, which minimizes the possibility of injury. There is also no standing, punching, slapping, kicking, biting, choking, hair pulling, jewelry pulling, or hands under clothes; no picking people up and slamming them down. End the match by saying “STOP”, tapping your opponent or the ground repeatedly, or 3 count pinfall. We strongly urge our patrons to take a COVID 19 test the day of the event, and encourage masking. Please stay home if you are feeling sick. We will have members of the Boston Street Medic team available for health support, and will have light refreshments available at the venue.

Consent in this space is mandatory, enthusiastic, and actively negotiated. Inebriated people cannot consent to wrestle, and if you appear too altered to negotiate consent, it’s no hard feelings, but you will be benched. We recommend enjoying your libations as a post-wrestling treat, and enjoying our mocktail offerings beforehand. You know yourself best, so please know your limits and celebrate responsibly with us!

While this event centers queer people, EVERYONE is welcome, as long as they can abide by the house rules. We firmly believe that play fighting is good for the soul, strengthens our nervous systems, deepens our bonds with each other, and is an entertaining and appropriate way to ring in the New Year! So ditch the normal bar crawl, house party, or introverted holiday offerings this year, and join us for a VERY special evening, of Wrestling Yr Friends!
